![]() ![]() The aspect ratio on Stir of Echoes is one that I was not familiar with. Despite the problems this film has, it¿s definitely worth a viewing. And, what¿s up with the orange juice? If you¿ve seen it, then you know what I mean. I mean, she¿s discovered all this evidence backing what Bacon sees but doesn't understand why he needs to solve the mystery. Also, the relationship between Bacon and his wife was a little odd. I hate when you spend 90% of a movie glued to the screen only to be let down by a sub-par ending. ![]() Besides, I figured out at least part of the ending early in the second act. It's like they painted themselves into a corner and had to create some convoluted way to get out. The ending is contrived in a manner that¿s become way too common in Hollywood movies. While there are some general similarities, Stir of Echoes is more of a traditional, ghost story, mystery than The Sixth Sense. But, he can¿t stop until he uncovers the ugly truth of what happened to young Samantha Kozac. Tom becomes so obsessed with solving the mystery (think Close Encounters) that his marriage is starting to suffer. His son, Jake (Zachary David Cope), can also see visions and is trying to help his Dad deal with the shock of seeing the dead. She seems to be giving Tom pieces of a puzzle, trying to help him solve a mystery. Eventually, he sees the apparition of a young girl. After this experience, he begins to see disturbing visions. Apparently, Tom is one of a small percent of people who can be put totally under during hypnosis. Tom Witzky (Kevin Bacon) is a run-of-the-mill, ordinary guy whose life is turned upside down after he agrees to be hypnotized at a party.
